Privacy Policy — Good Newss mobile app

Last updated: 19 August 2026

This policy explains what the Good Newss mobile app collects, why, and who else sees it. It covers the app specifically. Our website is covered by the store privacy policy, which does not describe the notification tokens or crash reports that only exist in the app.

We are the data fiduciary for the information described here, which means we decide why and how it is used, and we are answerable for it.

What we collect, and why

When you browse and shop

What you put in your basket, the quantities, any gift-wrap message, discount codes you enter, and what you search for. We need this to show you a working basket and to take your order. It is held by Shopify, which runs our store.

When you place an order

Your delivery address, phone number and email, so we can deliver and keep you posted. Your order history so you can look it up later.

We never see your payment details. Card, UPI and cash-on-delivery are handled entirely inside Shopify's own checkout. Your card number and UPI ID are never sent to us, never stored by us, and never pass through the app.

When you create an account

Your name and email address, your saved delivery addresses, and your wishlist so it follows you between devices. Signing in is handled by Shopify; the keys that keep you signed in are stored in your phone's own encrypted storage and are never written to our records.

If you turn on notifications

A notification token — an identifier your phone gives us so a message can reach that device. We use it only to tell you about your order, or that something you asked about is back in stock. While you are signed in, the token is linked to your account so we do not send you someone else's order updates; when you sign out, that link is removed immediately.

You can turn notifications off at any time in your phone's settings. Nothing else in the app stops working if you do.

Crash reports

When the app crashes, we receive a technical report so we can fix it: what went wrong, which screen you were on, your device model, its operating system version, and the app version.

These reports are deliberately built to carry no personal information. We do not attach your name, your email, your account, or your IP address, and the app removes anything sensitive before a report is sent. We do not record your screen.

What we do not do

We do not track you. The app contains no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking of any kind. We do not build a profile of you, we do not sell or rent your information to anyone, and we do not use it for advertising.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, files or calendar.

What stays on your phone

Your wishlist, your basket, and a few small preferences are kept on your device so the app is quick and works when you have no signal. Uninstalling the app removes all of it. Your wishlist is also saved to your account, if you have one, so it survives a new phone.

Who else receives your information

We use three service providers, and only these three:

  • Shopify — runs our store, our checkout and our customer accounts. Your orders, addresses and account details are held there.
  • Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) — delivers notifications to your phone. Receives the notification token and the message.
  • Sentry — receives crash reports. As described above, these carry no personal information.

Each of them is bound to use your information only to provide that service to us. Because these are global services, your information may be stored and processed outside India.

We also share what is necessary with our delivery partners so your order can reach you, and with the authorities where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Order and account records are kept for as long as you have an account with us, and afterwards only for as long as tax and accounting law requires us to.

Notification tokens and restock requests are short-lived and are deleted automatically once they are no longer needed. Crash reports are kept for a limited period and then deleted by Sentry.

Children

We sell products for babies and children, but the app is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their information, write to us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may:

  • ask what information we hold about you, and what we have done with it;
  • have anything wrong corrected, or anything incomplete completed;
  • ask us to delete your information, where we are not required to keep it;
  • nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you are unable to;
  • complain to us, and to the Data Protection Board of India.

Deleting your account. You can start this from inside the app — Account → Delete account — or by writing to the address below. Deleting removes your details from this device straight away, and we then erase your account records apart from anything the law requires us to keep.

To exercise any of these, write to contact@goodnewss.in. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information or your request, please contact our Grievance Officer directly:

Changes to this policy

If we change what the app collects, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Where a change is significant, we will tell you in the app.
